Sulphur remediation
Sulphur remediation is now complete
November, 2004
In August of 2004 Alberta Infrastructure awarded a contract to remediate the sulphur impacted soils at the Turner Valley Gas Plant site to Iron Horse Construction Ltd. The work was completed by the first week of November, 2004.
The sulphur remediation took place primarily at the former sulphur block area. The remediation work consisted of excavating and removing from the site soil with visible sulphur.
There were a number of locations with visible oil staining in the soil that was removed at the same time. The next step was to add lime to the remaining soil to restore the Ph level of the soil. Clean fill material was then trucked in to restore the area to the original grade.
